Castle Doctrine legislation that more broadly defines the circumstances where Pennsylvania citizens may choose to exercise their right of self protection was signed into law by Governor Corbett Tuesday in Harrisburg. Legislation that would ensure open and competitive selection procedures for legal services performed under state contract by private attorneys was recently approved by the Pennsylvania House. The Pennsylvania House approved its version of the state budget Tuesday in Harrisburg. Taxpayers and lawmakers joined together for the annual Pennsylvania State Capitol Taxpayers Protest Tuesday in Harrisburg. Speaking at the event were representatives of more than 10 taxpayer groups who spoke in opposition to the budget plan put forth by the Rendell Administration to increase state spending by more than $1 billion and boost taxes to cover skyrocketing state deficits.
